know-how

The history of Sessùn is intimately entwined with craftsmanship. A deep love of hand craftsmanship and cultural specificities, which make each piece unique and give them their value. And although we now engage in a larger scale production, we have never lost that inclination towards the authenticity and the irreplaceable value of the handmade.

our own workshop

Because nothing is more important than being able to develop our patterns ourselves, we have always operated our own in-house dressmaking shop. A team of 5 people work there permanently on prototyping, pattern making and the creation of our designs. We can thus make as many alterations as necessary to obtain the exact cut we are looking for, test the materials and refine the finishes.

This "made-to-measure" aspect allows us to develop our own garments with the greatest possible accuracy and quality, while perpetuating a textile tradition based on the expertise and meticulous approach adopted by professional seamsters/seamstresses.

made in france

Participating in the development and dissemination of French expertise is also a value that is close to our hearts. We pay particular attention to enhancing the value of certain products through a commitment to specialist businesses, often small or family-owned.

All our socks are knitted in a workshop near Troyes, in a family business that has specialised in hosiery for 5 generations.

Likewise, all of our gladiator sandals are hand-made by a master craftsman here in Marseille

beyond textiles

Over the years, artisanal craftsmanship has inspired not only our collections, but also the design and decor of our stores. Today, we are proud to have stores that stand out from the crowd, and what's more, that stand out from one another. Each one is unique, bringing together crafts from all over the world and thus enhancing the local cultural heritage.

Each space follows a chosen design and tends to be in keeping with the cultural heritage of the location in which it is based. A former paper mill on Rue Legendre in Paris, historic buildings in Lille, preserved brick walls in Toulouse or a wood-panelled facade in Lyon. In order to realise these projects, Sessùn calls upon renowned architects, accompanied by craftsmen with unrivalled expertise.

Whether cabinetmakers such as the Jean-Brieuc workshop in Angers, which, among other things, created the installations for the shop on Rue des Saints-Pères and the "cocoon" store on Rue de Charonne in Paris, distinguished companions such as Art Domus, to whom we owe our "bubbles" in Cannes, or the glassblowers at the CIAV in Meisenthal and the innovative Lucile Viaud and her marine glass - these are all players who contribute to the creation of true architectural masterpieces.

In order to pay tribute to them and to let you discover their invaluable expertise, we have made short documentaries on two of them.

la vannerie de villaine

La Vannerie de Villaines, the last basket weaving cooperative in France, which, alongside other projects, has produced weaving for our "cocoon" store on Rue de Charonne or the furniture in our Rennes and Strasbourg stores, and which never ceases to surprise us.

maison drucker

The Maison Drucker, founded in 1885 and specialising in woven rattan bistro furniture, who agreed to make the braiding for the furniture doors in our Montpellier store.
